With our first season under our belt, who would have thought it this time last year we’d be hiring out vintage VW campervans for holidays in the stunning Snowdonia National Park, the Llŷn Peninsula, and Anglesey in North Wales. Not only that, we’re now the proud owners of not just one (and that one in need of serious restoration) but 5 classic VW campervans. One of which we’re excited to say is an iconic, splitscreen camper who goes by the name of Connie!
It’s been quite a journey but an exciting one!
We opened in May, this year and have welcomed many guests who have had a fair few adventures in our 1970’s late Bay VW campers, Bessie, Poppy and Nell. Nell has travelled the furthest afield venturing along the Welsh Coast to New Quay, a seaside town in Ceredigion and a trip to Malvern in Worcestershire for Busfest. Bessie has loved the hills of Snowdonia National Park and Poppy is now a regular to Mynydd Mawr, at the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula.
Bessie and Nell are our 2 seasoned rental campervans, having spent several years accompanying holiday makers on their travels throughout Cornwall when they played a major role in Fistral Bays Campervan Hire. They made their pilgrimage north to Snowdonia this time last year and became our two founding members of Snowdonia Classic Campers.
Nell, born in 1973, is a T2 late Bay campervan, who is painted in the same hue as the bluest of summer skies. We’ve given Nell a bit of a make-over since we’ve had her with new upholstery and pop-top canvas. Bessie is our furthest travelled campervan, having arrived on British shores from South Africa just a few years ago. Born in 1974, Bessie is also a T2 late bay campervan and underwent a full restoration by Fistral Bays who painted her in a lovely green and white. Poppy joined our fleet in May, and I think it’s fair to say with her bright ‘poppy’ red paint she has been our most popular campervan this year. Poppy is a 1974, T2 late bay with an original Westfalia pop-up roof and has a spacious full width pull out double bed and a modern interior created by the Camper Shak.
All our campervans are right-hand-drive which we feel is very important to our customers, most of whom will be experiencing the quirks of driving a vintage vehicle for the very first time.
If you’re planning your next campervan roadtrip in Snowdonia’s Mountains and Coast, we’re taking bookings for 2019, visit our website for more information.
