Our Story

Our First VW Camper Van

April 2007

My husband, Jon is a bit of a classic car enthusiast, in his time he has had several Triumph TR6s, an iconic red e-type jag (it was lovely) and following the jag VW campervans. I am afraid though the VW campervan was my idea – the Jag just wasn’t practical with 2 young kids so the jag had to go, and in its place, our beautiful, Lucy, a blue and white, rhd, splitscreen camper. Lucy had a light and airy dormobile roof (I think it’s my favourite type of pop-up) but a Devon style interior.

June 2007

Lucy was fabulous, we had many an adventure in her, including an epic roadtrip to the Mediterranean in the south of France via the Alps of course. The kids loved her, especially sleeping in her cosy bunks, tucked into her pop-up roof. Lucy did us proud, a round trip of over 2000 miles which took in Lake Annecy and Montblanc in the Alps, and then down to relax and chill in the sun at a fantastic child friendly campsite Les Pecheurs, in Roquebrune-sur-Argens close to the Mediterranean. The only mishap we had in that 3-week trip was after a very stormy Channel crossing when the pop-up roof up was wretched open by gust of wind, literally as we were driving off the ferry in Dover – scary stuff as we almost ended up crushed between the boat and the harbour side!

Family Activities

June 2009

Unfortunately, we had to part company with Lucy to support our kids whose interests over the years has taken some interesting turns. Initially into the fast and furious game of karting, and then into an equally adrenaline fuelled sport of climbing, both competition and outdoors.

The Outdoors

We still camp, as this is perfect for our family and our love of outdoors, and finding those sports crags to sate their desire to climb. We’re also very fortunate to live in arguably the best climbing area in Britain, Snowdonia. Snowdonia, its mountains and coast is simply breathtaking it offers something for everyone with its wild landscapes, beaches and villages steeped in history.
